Live Music This Weekend

Hi,

Here is the latest in a packed weekend of live music:
  • D'Sco: The Geckos of Love kick off the weekend with a session at the Sayon Silkworks (50m north of Rubies behind the Royal Palace). It starts around 7:00PM and is a great place to enjoy a relaxing coffee and cakes.
  • Friday sees The Beer O'Clock Band doing their regular show at the Velkommen Inn on Street 104, Phnom Penh. The Beer O'Clock Band starts around 6:00PM and have had several special guests performing in recent weeks. Please feel free to come and sing or play or both at your liesure.
  • The Lazy Jazz Punks will be on at The Cavern. This is also an open-mike arrangement so please come down and play or sing. Being the venues are so close it will be possible for musicians to play at both venues. The Lazy Jazz Punks play more British-based punk / folk and are electrified. The Beer O'Clock Band are accoustic and play American country / folk / blues. The Lazy Jazz Punks start around 8:30PM
  • You can also catch Charlie and Patrick every Tuesday and this Friday at Barbados, from 8:30PM to 12:30AM. They do a variety of contemporary English and French pop ballads.
  • The Hellhounds follow the Beer O'Clock Band at the Velkommen Inn starting around 9:00PM. Recently they have sported a full five-piece outfit with drums and bass being provided by D'Sco: The Geckos of Love. That combined with the new PA resulted in a good time for most patrrons last week.
  • On Saturday starting at 7:00PM there is the contemporary music theater (film) presented by the ART+Foundation. It is at the Art CafĂ©. It is entitled "FAUST episode II - by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe"
  • Also on Saturday starting around 9:00PM there is a local Phnom Penh folk band called Kheltica playing traditional mix of folk songs and dances from Brittany blended with traditional Irish and Scottish folk tunes and songs. They are playing at the Chinese House
  • Also on Saturday the 10th at 10:00PM the Stiff Little Punks will play their penultimate gig at The Cavern featuring a version of the Pistols version of "My Way" and loads of other tunes. It will be the last chance to see full set.
  • There is a German folk band playing at the Cambodiana this weekend also - all part of the Oktoberfest party.
  • On Sunday The Hellhounds are joined by D'Sco: The Geckos of Love at Talkin' to a Stranger on Street 294. Talkin' to a Stranger is a large place with a great outdoor beer garden and a nice place to relax and have a beer on a Sunday afternoon. Also a good place to bring the kids.
  • The Hellhounds will also perform their Mondays Blues-Breaker set at Sharkys starting at 9:00PM
Please let me know if I have missed anything / anybody out.

Coming up next week:
  • Mispent Yooth play Talkin' to a Stranger on Friday the 16th of October
