Live Music This Weekend - Thursday 25th of February, 2010

Please be aware that to be included in the Krawma (the fortnightly hardcopy gig guide put out via the Bong Thom dot Com web site) you must get your gigs in by Tuesday morning before publication. So the next cut-off date and time will be Tuesday the 8th of March, 2010 at 12:00PM - I will send out a reminder email before that time.

Friday is el packedoooooooo this weekend. Make sure you get down and catch at least one gig! Cheers.

Live Music Gig Guide
  1. The Hellhounds will play the last of the Scratch, Snort, and Drooling Blues Sessions this Thursday at 9:00PM at Sharkys. There is extra reason to get down there this week too. Not will be your last chance to catch them for a while but there will be a re-appearance of international super-star, special guest Johnny Pilgrim. Johnny played an impromptu few songs with the boys last week but this week he will play both sets as their regular harp/mando player (i.e.: Television Ted) is in Australia. Johnny has over 30 years of harp-playing experience and should not be missed. [More Info]

Did you know that information from the Leng Pleng blog is used and republished by the following publications:
Using this gig guide in combination with Scott Bywater's Following the Applause is a great way to stay in touch with the live music scene in Cambodia (at least the expat side-of-things at this point). Leng Pleng currently has over 70 addresses in mailing list  mostly musicians but also some publicans. If you hear of any gigs or know of people that want to become a part of it then please send an email to TelevisionTed AT BongThom.com.

Congratulations to Julian Paulsen, Srey Thy and some part of the rest of the crew on board the Cambodian Space Project who will blast off to Hong Kong later next month to play a few gigs during an international film festival. The band will also be heading off in the Space Bus this weekend for a Chinese New Year party on the Saturday night in Ba Srae - a village between Takeo and the Vietnamese border (about a 2.5 hour drive). You are welcome to join them - please call 012 832509 for more details.

This weekend we are spoilt for choice on Friday with a total of 6 venues showcasing live music. Plus there a two new venues to this blog.

Follow the [MORE INFO] links for more details of addresses, contacts, flyers etc. Most of them will link to the Bong Thom web site as there that is where I generally have typed the info once already - otherwise it will link to the direct source of the information if it is available.

Live Music this Weekend - 4th of February, 2010

The FCC is excelling things in regard to the burgeoning live music scene here in Kampuchea. They have 2 international acts and a variety of local acts on the schedule for February.

The Cambodian Space Project has a number of interesting gigs coming up. They are taking a space mission to Takeo for the weekend of the Chinese New Year (year of the tiger), i.e.: 13th and 14th of February. There will be a space bus organized that will seat at least 25. They have a PA and sound system organized for a small provincial village called Ba Srae and will perform there. If any other acts / musicians would like to join and perform there then please contact me (TelevisionTed@BongThom.com). As with all Cambodian Space project gigs - it should be a real blast! The band will also be heading to Hong Kong in March for a couple of gigs

Not usually my thing to advertise music at Naga World but a 12-girl band from China cannot be overlooked. Looks totally unique and potentially very cooooool - see http://www.12girls.org/english/yszx.asp There are 12 gorgeous Chinese women and they play a range of traditional Chinese instruments doing everything from contemporary pop to jazz and classiical arrangements. It's a buy-a-ticket thing from NagaWorld (023 216834 / 5 / 6). They play on the 24th and 26th of February.

The gig guide is a little light-on this week. Let me know if you are playing anywhere and I will add it to the list. Missed a great show last week at The Chinese House by Shangri La - relevant emails have now been added to the list. Please be aware that both Lady Penh and the Phnom Penh Post use this guide as content on their publications so anything included here will also be forwarded on to them.
