This weeks gig guide is testament to the continued growth of the local live music and DJ scene in Cambodia. There are five new venues included in this weeks guide and four new performers. Additionally, there is news of no less than four (4) music festivals coming up in the next few weeks - two in Siem Reap, one in Phnom Penh and one in Kampot. The Kampot River Music Festival is being organized by Leng Pleng and will include at least 3 venues and feature some of the best bands in the country. If you want to become part of the festival then it is still possible - please contact us by replying to this email.

If you are in Siem Reap then don't miss the gig on tonight as the Cambodian Space Project help celebrate the opening of a brand new venue known as The 1961. Phnom Penhers can catch Sysé Swing at the Phnom Penh Swings (http://www.pppswings.com/) troupe weekly dance assemblage at Equinox. Cool!

Equinox are leading the way this week with the exclusive premier of totally new fusion music from a special outfit known as Dub Addiction. Touted in the direction of a reggae-ragga-dub band, the ensemble includes a collective mix of some of the best local and international musicians and electronic music mix artists in the country. It is the first sound of this nature to be available to an audience in Cambodia and is en-swathed within Khmer lyrics. Catch it this Friday at Equinox.

Before that gig you might want to enjoy a dinner and a dance just 100m down the road at a brand new venue called Chayyam. The Bayon Blues will be playing there, starting at the earlier time of 8:00PM, and the great food, wooden floor and spacious dance area should make a great prelude to a great night.

Alternatively there is the all-girl group known as the Mesenger Band who will play at Le Jardin starting at 7:00PM on the same night. This band is made up of girls previously employed in the garment industry and sing songs describing the situation and expressing their hopes for change. Definitely a unique gig.

Mao's continue to support the local live music scene with four performances on this week, including Holliday in Cambodia and Musikero. Sharky's have a showcase on Friday night in the form of Oscar's Band and on Saturday night feature the total rockin', Chicago blues of Little Duke and the Mekong Blues Messengers.

Cartoon Emo Play at the CSP Single Launch
Other great gigs of note include the much-anticipated re-emergence of the Ukes of Hazzard, who will make a special appearance on Tuesday night at the Local II. Also catch Dr. Wah Wah  at Rubies on Friday night. Cool!

Coming up - look out for the Tuk-Tuk Sessions (http://www.TukTukSessions.com/) at the Mith Samlanh Fun Fair and Cartoon Emo at Koh Pich. Also, Equinox will introduce us to two more new bands next weekend. All coming up in future editions.

Have a great weekend, be cool with each other and see you around the traps. Here's this weekends gig guide.
