Coming Soon...
A
couple of pieces of good news arrived at Leng Pleng
Towers this week
regarding the Phnom Penh
music scene. Firstly, Slur
Bar has
a new owner and will
be re-opening as a live music venue in the very near future.
Secondly, Bona
Thiem and his partner
Mel,
the team behind the legendary
Memphis Pub,
are working hard on
a new live music venture
in the city. As always, watch
this space for news of further developments.
This
week's gig guide is a little lighter than usual, but there are still
a few choice shows to check out over the weekend.

Sharky
Bar will
pull off another live music coup this weekend with
Bloodstock II, creating
a great opportunity for Phnom Penh gig-goers to hear three bands on
the same night. None of these bands have
been heard around
the traps for a little while.
Psychotic Reactions,
Nightmare AD
and Knell
(formerly Splitter)
will take to the stage on
Saturday night in what has
been billed as the 'punk vs metal, Mayweather
vs. Pacquiao musical fight of
the year'. Emotions and
energy levels will be running high - Knell
will be performing
their first gig with
a new
line-up, new name and
new songs, Psychotic
Reactions will
be performing with guitarist
Robin Narciso
(Sangvar Day)
for the first time and
Nightmare A.D. will
be performing for the last
time with their current line-up. Hopefully things will not boil over
into actual violence, though...

Meanwhile,
at Meta House on Saturday
night, queen-of-cute Miss
Sarawan will be serving
up an acoustic take on the
classic 'Golden Era' Khmer
rock'n'roll songs made famous by icons Ros
Sereysothea and
Pan Ron.
Miss Sarawan
now also has a few of her own compositions to throw into the mix. As
a bonus, she will be joined by her twin sister Mealai for a number of
songs. Spot the difference!
Whatever you're up to over the next few days, stay safe out there and... see you around the traps!
