Gregory Marino will
start the weekend at Farm
to Table with
an early evening solo acoustic slot. The
talented Canadian is a singer-songwriter in the
indie-alternative-folk style
of Sam Roberts or Neil Young.
The former Marsyas
guitarist has once again become a very active part of the music scene
in Phnom Penh, with recent performances at Chinese
House
and the Raggamuffin
Boathouse – in
addition to hosting a regular Thursday night open mic at Top
Banana.
Someone
at Farm to Table
clearly has very good taste, as the venue continues to book
high-quality acoustic acts each Friday night.
Check out
Greg
Marino's Soundcloud
page to
hear a great acoustic track from a couple of years ago entitled
'Delay'.
Black Pearl Pub,
on Street 172 in Phnom Penh, will this Friday night become a live
music venue. The
inaugural evening will indeed be a special one - featuring one of the
most talented arrivals to hit Cambodia in recent years alongside
two of Phnom Penh's most celebrated expat musicians. Clay
George
(vocals/guitar) will lead a band comprising of Phil
Javelle
(keys/multi-instrumentalist), Lewis
Pragasam
(drums/percussion) and two unnamed 'mystery
guests'. The
repertoire of choice will be cuts from Clay George's multi-album
catalogue (check
out the bandcamp
page), together with all-time country music classics.
Itinerant
trap-walkers (for
the uninitiated, a 'trap-walker' is a gadfly-like Phnom Penh gig-goer
who takes advantage of the close proximity and easy access to live
shows in the city by taking in at least three different acts in one
night – often
for only a few songs at a time) should note that the $5 cover charge
at Black Pearl
includes not
only a free cocktail but 'a permanent 10% discount on the food and
beverages menu' (Facebook event page).
Phil Javelle and
Lewis Pragasam
will also play as a trio
with Ritchy Boisson
at Bassac Lanes
on Saturday night.

est. bar will
be 'feeling the blues' on Monday night as they continue their weekly
live music slot with Jeffro
Sills
